Last Friday, a lovely group of designers and developers at Alphero (a digital agency in Te Whanganui a Tara) did a quiz made by my seven-year-old to raise money for Autism NZ.
Hammy loved doing it and spent a lot of time on the quiz. They donated $258 to the cause and he was so happy. They also queried one of his answers, which he would not allow. So please for the love of God don’t ask me about it because I do not know. I did not finish high school and I am not as smart as he is.
If you enjoyed the quiz - you can donate to my charity which is the charity of me feeding my children and paying my rent. It’s a great charity in my opinion lol.
Feel free to do this quiz with mates like they did at Alphero and Ham would love to know your scores.

OK before we go into the answers - do not debate them with me because in the nicest way possible, I genuinely don’t care. I am simply sharing this quiz because when I talked about it on Instagram many people asked me to share it. Just enjoy this quiz by a seven-year-old. Reminder: He is seven.
I have asked him about the controversial answer but he will not enter into debate. He insists it is correct and everyone else is wrong. And if that frustrates you - contribute to my wine fund because I’m the one who has to parent under these conditions.
Genuinely though, special interests are awesome and Hammy loves nothing more than sharing his knowledge of countries, flags, and geography with others.
Here’s a great piece on what it feels like to have a special interest.
“Usually the world is exhausting and scary, but when I am absorbed in my special interests, I feel inspired, energised, and the world is exciting. Knowledge about my special interests is so easy for me to acquire, and my memory and recall of this information is amazing – it feels like I was created on purpose to do these things. I doubt myself less when talking about my interests, so am more confident and less likely to experience issues with my speech. Those moments when I am fully engaged in my interests is how I refuel and what gives me a sense of purpose in life.” – Cathy, 40
I asked Ham what he loves most about countries and he said that “they’re just beautiful”. So there you go.
Here’s the message he sent with his quiz:
Hi I am Ronnie Te Wai. I am seven. I am autistic. I love geography and I hope you like my quiz. I tried to make it easy because my mum said I had to. I think it's easy. Good luck with my quiz and thank you for giving money to Autism New Zealand. If you meet a kid with autism you should ask them what they like and then they will tell you what they like and do a quiz with them because if you have autism you are quite smart generally and will know things they can help you with.

How did you go? Let’s hear your scores. I got four out of 13. Which shows I block out a lot more than I listen to when it comes to geography facts.
I just read my husband the quiz, he got 4, he considers himself a quiz master and loves a challenging quiz. The whole way through he kept saying “THESE ARE AWESOME QUESTIONS” and “OMG I DIDN’T KNOW THAT” and “MOTHER-EFFER THAT’S A GOOD ONE” so safe to say he’s pretty stoked with the quiz. Nice work Ronnie!
6. Is Hammy okay with sharing what the controversial answer is (which question) and why he is right?
