Hello! As you read this I’ll be on a train to Featherston - in and out of reception but hopefully able to have chats with you. I’m back in Featherston for Booktown. But nothing stands in the way of Friday Night Chats so let’s go:
So, I’ve been added to another panel for Booktown which is exciting. Tomorrow I’ll be doing Exploring the New Book: Substack/Patreon/Metaverse. Tickets are still available so you can just show up.
And on Sunday, I’m on the Celebrating Queer Stories panel with our poet laureate Chris Tse, the incredible playwright and author Victor Rodger, and biographer Joanne Drayton. Joanne’s latest book The Queen’s Wife sounds so interesting. I’m looking forward to reading it. Tickets are still available or you can just show up. I plan to talk about the stories we share with our kids about sexuality and gender and the moral panic around those from the Christian right. And probably my own coming out journey and how queer literature and art helped me figure out who I am and be happy with who I am.
Mother’s Day is of course on Sunday (my newsletter would be a good gift I reckon???) And WOW the marketing has been dire. Let’s talk about it…
