At Midday today, Pharmac – Te Pātaka Whaioranga, announced that funding for continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), insulin pumps, and insulin pump consumables will be available for people with type 1 diabetes from 1 October 2024.
I have tears Eddie. Even though you already had access to a CGM, and it took a lot of strength to fight, speak and advocate, THANK YOU for not leaving others behind. You are a bright star in a dark sky young man
Omg i remember your resignation after Eddie went to the Select Committee - how hard it is, how long it takes, how dejecting to try again and again. I hope this feels validating and restorative for you both. Eddie makes such an enormous difference in this world and it's your energy and resilience that helps him do that Emily ♥️ happy tears
The world most definitely needs more Eddies! Great news for the many people struggling to stabilise their diabetes, and Eddie must be delighted for all those he tried so hard to help.
Eddie, you are an absolute Rockstar. Thank you for bravely showing up, and continuing to raise your voice, even when it so often felt like we weren't being heard. We did it! I hope you celebrate with your whānau and know how proud everyone is of your tireless mahi to help others.
Oh Eddie ❤️ you’re a legit inspiration. Such awesome news!! And I think a lot of us can do with that reminder to keep hope and keep going.
