We are pretty tapped into our community and we get txts from ppl saying - this whānau needs help etc. I’d donate through your local school - most schools need lunches and have families who need help. Or through your local food bank.
If you are in Lower Hutt, there are a few Pataka Kais that distribute food parcels. Common Unity also has a food sharing shelf. Often on FB pages like Make a Difference Hutt Valley, people will request food too. We try to give our Pataka Kai treats, like easter eggs or boxes of chocolate because everyone deserves treats.
This is so beautifully written, and makes the point in such a powerful way. Love it!
Where do you take your food parcels? If someone wanted to do similar where would we take them? Or do you just drop them off to people you know?

That is beautifully written, and terribly true, and amazingly well put, and so, so awful, Emily! I am sitting here with tears on my cheeks...
This is wonderful. Thank you ❤️
All the feels. Reminds me of heartbreaking scenes in the film, I, Daniel Blake.
I don’t think I was able to take a breath while reading that. Phenomenal writing as always.
Beautiful words and very moving. Thank you!
