'I’m just a kid and that’s a lot of time to use up.'

What a special kid. I so hope he can stop fighting for this soon and use his precious kid time enjoying himself.

I'm kind of afraid to hope. Like even if it goes ahead, the eligibility criteria will be super-narrow, or the tender will be awarded to some dodge undercutter, or it'll take a zillion years to get through the bureaucracy and actually get them into people's hands...

I can't let myself hope for myself, it just takes too much energy. But still happy that the chance is there, and that there will be some people whose lives are easier for it.

I feel this too. But also feel that celebrating the wins no matter how small help us keep going.

Wonderful, thanks Eddie for fighting so hard for all diabetics and those that will be diagnosed in the future. Keeping my fingers crossed the funding is approved 🤞🏻

Thank you so, so much Eddie for your ongoing advocacy, for bravely sharing your story to help others and the truth about this ongoing mahi. I too cried after the budget. It made me angry and so sad that they just didn't 'get it'. It's so exciting to see that things are slowly heading in the right direction. The energy of the Type 1 community and their allies is contagious and I am so grateful for it and your whānau. I love your reflection on the highs and lows, it reminded me that it's okay to rest when we need to. It's 100% about saving lives and I'm right here with you, and will not give up either until funded CGMs become a reality.

Timing! A dear friend’s teenage son has just been diagnosed with type 1. So many lives will be better as a result of all the hard mahi Eddie and his friends and whanau have put in despite the relentless discouragements.
