My 14 year old had a video go viral on TikTok of her applying makeup, she filmed it on her bedroom floor surrounded by dirty washing and dishes that that should’ve been returned to the kitchen. So over 200,000 people have seen the state of her bedroom and even that isn’t incentive to clean it up.
I pointed this out to her so she then changed the name of her account so I couldn’t find the video anymore to keep track of how horrified I was so many people had seen it as she knows I don’t know how TikTok works.
A PSA for the school holidays: Whatever you do, don’t link a card (like a Visa debit or credit card) to GooglePlay store or Apple App Store or Microsoft Xbox or PlayStation without locking that shiz down. Make it need your fingerprint or face or like, your colonic map, to open it.
I say this and yet by the end of the school holidays I will voluntarily be paying for robux just so I can be left alone to work for a bit.
I couldn't help my youngest kid with his maths homework by the time he was 10! And I have a degree 🙄. And another of my kids, was a "rent a nerd" for a few years. Now, I just feel stupid, a lot of the time.
There’s a free app called Photomath that uses your phone camera to scan maths equations and shows you how to answer them. All our parent friends were sharing this during home learning lockdowns!
My 6 year old keeps "vlogging" using my phone. Where does she see this behaviour? Who is her audience? I have so many questions. Thankfully she doesn't know my login so can't take it any further than that. Yet.
"Ok, so over here is my dining table, see? And this is the living room. I'm going to put your down over here *rests phone against something* and show you the waiata I've been learning at school." Proceeds to sing multiple waiata to her "audience". It's that particular tone that is so accurate but I have no idea how!
My now 11 year old niece started a you tube channel at 5. Was sitting at the table with her parents and grandparents and said you guys should join my YouTube channel...... none of us know how to do it even now lol. I have had to tell her not to post our son on it multiple times as of hear her with our barely speaking toddler saying Deacon say "hi everyone" at the camera.
Emily, I’m at least a generation older than you, and it’s my grandchildren aged 8-16 who amaze (and occasionally patronise) me. 😂 I leave the worrying to their clever parents, and just enjoy the kids’ skill and imagination. Really, they do some amazing art and music with the technology, it’s a beautiful thing 😊

I might have to buy some Tena Pads after reading this - almost peed myself laughing!
Yussss!
Still giggling over the last line.
Me too🤣🤣🤣
The kids might be (are) smarter than me when it comes to tech, but I’m still the one they come to for life advice
All true!!🤣

Confession… I still can’t work out where the flashlight is, and thought I was a genius when I worked out I could ask siri to turn it on.
