Beautifully written. I too saw Barbie with my friends and a sold out audience largely dressed in pink. You absolutely nailed it, seeing that movie I felt Seen. And I didn’t realise why until you said it was written by women for women. I love that Margot Robbie saw an opportunity to make something special and that she tapped Greta Gerwig to bring it to life. And that the whole cast just threw themselves into it. And the last line was brilliant.
Going to Barbie at the Penthouse tomorrow as a fundraiser for our Playcentre. I'm going to dress as a 70s Ken (a fat one).
I tried the wig on yesterday and my 3 year old walked past, paused uncertainly and said "Mum?" Ha ha, yes it's me! He was relieved.
Sorry for all your losses. I have gone through life without many, but seems I am using the strategy of not getting close to many people to achieve that. Do not recommend.
I absolutely needed this today. It’s been a total shitter. Now I’m reminded it’s ok, some days are shitters. But now my baby is asleep on me and it feels like it will be ok. And I need to go and see Barbie.....
Yes! I also went last night to a packed “ladies night” (with quite a few fellas) and loved that while there were some very beautifully dressed women I did not feel any shame for dragging myself along in my jandals and my cardigan that my kids say looks like a dressing gown. America Ferrera was my favourite - I hadn’t done much research and didn’t even know she was in it so that was a lovely surprise.
I feel really uncultured and like I missed that the Barbie movie was a big deal 🤣 I never had barbies as a girl, I thought they were stupid and much preferred my sylvanians! But now I want to dress in pink and see this movie! 😂 beautiful piece - needed to read this tonight ❤️🩹
Who would’ve thought the Barbie movie would give rise to such profound thoughts? I’m glad you enjoyed the moment as well as thinking about serious things. Living in the world is pretty tough at times.
So beautiful. 😭 Thank you
But - real talk about the Barbie movie: do the Barbies scissor?
Haha there’s not one scissoring joke!!!
A missed opportunity
TRULY
Oh boo
Disappointing!

Yes! The last line had me screaming. So good. So fun to see it with a super hyped audience!

That’s a great idea for a fundraiser ❤️
I think there are at least three others doing the same movie locally, including a women's refuge one.

Some days are definitely shitters x I hope you get some time out to see it x

Wow. You nailed it there. Thanks Emily 💕
Thank you ❤️

So great eh? I’d seen her great outfits on the various red carpets but didn’t know what her role was.

I think even if you hated Barbies you’d enjoy the movie!
I didn’t like barbies either but the movie is hilarious.
