Ohhhh this is so sweet, when my son builds me minecraft houses they are always such beautiful places with a lot of thought and things I like “gardens! A library! A little secret cave with cushions! A bathroom that’s one big bath!” Minecraft house building is his love language: I don’t have money to buy you things but I can do minecraft, here is a cool house I made just for you mum ♥️

A little cry is just what I needed this morning (truly, not sarcasm). Thank you, Emily. Thankyou for articulating the scramble of my overwhelmed and sad brain. You don't know me, but it feels like you do. Thank you.

I agree, except substitute a "little cry" with a full face waterfall. Thanks Emily, this helps beyond measure ❤️

It reminded me my daughters used to make houses and decorate houses (in colours I like) on mine craft for me and I sometimes found it a bit painful sitting there endlessly seeing what they’d created.

Beautiful and hopeful words for which I thank you. I have been meaning to email Erica Sanford for quite a few days to ask her to extend humanitarian visas to families connected to NZ Palestinians and this post has galvanised me to do it. In case anyone else has the time her email is Erica.Stanford@parliament.govt.nz. It all helps right and she does have to respond. Take care everyone and may see you at the next ceasefire rally!

This is so beautiful and so perfect - thank you. I stopped my work to read this just now and I’m so pleased I did. I remember my son trying so hard to show me his mine craft creations. I was always so busy and I wish I had stopped and listened to him more. He is now a young man turning 20 and in the NZDF. They grow up so fast. Cherish those moments, stay grateful, stay kind and always stop to smell the roses - real or otherwise - always

This is perfect. I remember going out with my boy, on his 11th birthday. We went to the Parnell Baths, had Hells Pizza and FroYo, and he told me about Minecraft. For about 8 hours. It felt so perfect to be included in his chaotic, sticky, gorgeous world. Now he’s a barista, plays in a super cool band, and has a girlfriend. Those 8 hours are among some of my most treasured memories. Times with our kids, our pets, at the beach, lying on the ground looking at clouds. The small rich and beautiful moments that allow us to breathe, and heal so we can face the day. X

💞 Thank you for this. We have to hold onto the answer being that small things, good things, are cumulative and rather than despair, we just have to do WHAT we can WHEN we can so that together we make a difference - even if it is only to ONE person at a time it is worth it 🫂

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. This beautiful gift from your son and you is cherished today and will uplift me tomorrow and more as this seemingly harmful govt and others cloud our minds with the thick struggle of social care and justice, when actually caring for our little people, friends and family spark the deepest velvety love of spirit and universe. Ngā mihi nui Emily 🫶🏼
