I’m struggling to believe that anyone could think for a second that such incredibly miserly provision for help for children and families is any way acceptable. I knew it was inadequate, but hadn’t seen numbers for a while…

Thank you. This has made me feel very seen today for the role I play in our family. Today has involved battling winz and ird just to get a sum we can’t actually live on but have to battle to access. I believe a society should be measured by how well it treats its most vulnerable.

I would also like to share a good news story. My 11 year old has got so sick of people not understanding what it means to be neuro diverse, and witnessing kids being teased about it, that he’s started writing a speech to educate his school community about it. He’s just doing it to educate, to raise awareness and to increase inclusion. He’s got permission to read it at his school assembly. So proud.

The child disability allowance is disgusting. I work almost full time. I have 2 children with disabilities and I'm a single parent. There is no way this pittance goes anywhere to support the high needs of my children. I have the same fears as everybody in my situation, how will I continue to support my children?

I have the problem now that, because we never got ORS funding, even though my dyspraxic daughter qualifies, we are being penalised AGAIN. It's her last year at High School, and although she qualifies for Residential Support, she cannot get vocational support because that would be 'double dipping'. Her peers who did get ORS funding get both residential and vocational support automatically.

Once more into the breach...!
