Hey hey! Just my luck, a bunch of leaked emails from the coalition government just landed in my inbox. Of course I had to share them with you! Enjoy.

Dear David,
It was so great to see that you want to improve cardiovascular health in Aotearoa. We will admit it came as a surprise to us. We had no idea it was an issue that mattered to you.
As you’ll be aware, the Cure Kids' 2023 State of Child Health Report found that Pacific and Māori children were 115 and 46 times more likely to be hospitalised with acute rheumatic fever, respectively, compared to the rest of Aotearoa.
The report also stated rates of hospitalisations for respiratory conditions are higher for Pacific children (2.5 times), followed by Māori children (1.8 times).
Cure Kids chair of child health research, Stuart Dalziel told RNZ, "our healthcare system is failing tamariki Māori and Pasifika children”.
“We need to look at the determinants of what makes good health. Those determinants are adequate nutrition, housing, and freedom from poverty.”
“Then we need to look at how we're delivering the care for the children with rheumatic fever and it needs to be in an appropriate manner.”
The Cure Kids study found that 61 per cent of all hospitalisations for acute rheumatic fever or rheumatic heart disease in 2022 were children living in areas with the most socioeconomic deprivation.
So, your decision to scrap the Te Aka Whai Ora (sorry, I know seeing Te Reo Māori is upsetting for you - I mean the Māori Health Authority), effectively destroying decades of advocacy from Māori health leaders and Waitangi Tribunal claimants in under 24 hours - I’m so glad you’ll be reversing that decision.
And your sociopathic focus on trying to push through the Treaty Principles Bill - I’m so happy that’s going to end. Because, remember, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians' (RACP) Māori Health Committee chair Dr Matt Wheeler told you the principles outlined in the bill diminished "the constitutional status of the Treaty".
"This bill undermines the state's responsibility to collaborate with Māori, rendering the Treaty and its obligations meaningless," he said. "Consequently, equitable healthcare, a fundamental right for Māori, will continue to suffer."
Also, we are so so glad, you are going to reverse your decision to demand Pharmac “stop factoring Te Tiriti o Waitangi into its decisions”.
Most of all, we are thrilled that you will be changing your ways around how you stoke and inflame divisiveness and rhetoric given you know global evidence that racism contributes to poor health.
Ngā mihi (that means thank you),
Dr. I Whisch
Satyre Heart Foundation Aotearoa (that means New Zealand David).

Dear Dr Whisch,
Sorry, I just wanted to distract from the Tim Jago thing and drive a car that makes me feel like a real boy.
Not actually interested in the health of children.

Greetings, I apologise for the late reply. Our Martha had to be disciplined for subordination.
No need for comment. The media didn’t even pick up the story that I once organised a nation-wide campaign including marches to defund Family Planning! We are as safe.
I will get my wife to whip us up a six-course-meal to celebrate! Blessed be the fruit!

Hi Nicola,
I know it’s late but just some thoughts around the polls. Emailing you because I know Christopher is focused on his houses right now. I wonder if one of the issues around our polling is that we keep putting Ministers in roles where they’re kind of the worst possible person for the role? Do you think?
After the Penny Simmonds debacle (thank God the media never covered the fact that she outright lied about carers of disabled children) we put Louise Upston in as disability Minister - but I just wonder if maybe someone with absolutely no empathy is right in that role?
Also, Simeon? Health Minister? Again, not ideal given sometimes women need health? Some women even vote for us?
Obviously, we can’t do much about Winston as foreign minister given Christopher failed in that negotiation, but do you think it’s an issue that Shane Jones yelled "send the Mexicans home" across the floor and Winnie implied Hispanic people aren’t grateful to be here? Do you think a foreign minister shouldn’t be outwardly racist and xenophobic?

Hi David,
I’m a teacher who lives in your electorate. Wanting to know if you could please assist around school lunches. They’re not arriving and if they do arrive, they come cold and inedible.
Earlier this month, data from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) showed that students in our country who go hungry due to lack of money, even just once a week, were two to four years behind in their achievement scores compared to students who never go hungry.
The PISA 2022 results shows that for Māori students, the impact is even more severe with 23.5 % missing meals at least once a week (compared to 14% of students overall), and 9.5% missing meals every day compared to 6.5% overall.
Overall, Māori students who go hungry are one to three years behind their peers who never go hungry.
The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study looks at maths and science achievement for Year 5 and Year 9 students every four years across 58 countries. Here in NZ, over two thirds of Year 5 and Year 9 students feel hungry at least sometimes when they arrive at school. The gap between the scores for students arriving at school hungry every day or almost every day and those who didn’t feel hungry, was between 43 and 49 score points in maths and science. This was one of the highest gaps in achievement observed internationally.
The Progress in International Reading Literacy study measuring Year 5 reading literacy every five years in 58 countries, provides a similar image of declining achievement over categories of increasing hunger; this time in reading. In NZ in 2021, over 80% of students, who have not yet finished primary school, reported feeling hungry on arrival at school and achievement dropped over 55 points for students who feel hungry every day.
Please come to my school and meet with us.
Thanks, Jo
