Thankyou Eddie, What excellent advice. You are a brave legend of a kid and so kind and smart. I bet your Mum and Dad are super proud of how you help all of us to feel strong and brave.
This is great; thanks for writing and sharing it. When I read article after article about "personal freedom" I want to rage scream, but I'm more than happy to hear stories about unvaccinated people who genuinely need support - those who are afraid of needles, those who had adverse reactions to their first shot (or previous injections), those who are allergic. There is space for empathy and compassion for people who aren't vaccinated, but we only hear about those who choose not to get the jab for (what I consider) selfish reasons.
So good!! My son Luke (10) is going to get his first dose of the vaccine in a week or so and is very determined, but also very nervous! He’ll definitely appreciate your advice ❤️
I’ve reminded my three girls that it will hurt much less than having their ears pierced 😀 Not gonna lie though, disappointed we can’t just give Eddie a call 😉
My son is 24 and has a needle phobia, partly due to sensory issues. (I had the same phobia for years as a kid due to a lot of hospitalisations). I told him to talk to our GP about it and he didn’t have to get the vaxx then and there, just talk about his worries. Taking the pressure off helped him and I’m really proud to say he got the vaxx.
I know that the “Buzzy for Injections” is used by starship (small bee that vibrates which interrupts the pain signals and it also has cold “wings”), but given that this is price prohibitive for many of us a friend has used a small vibrating baby toy on her kid to reasonable effect.
I was also a kid that was terrified of injections (I was the scrawniest thing you can imagine, and it took four adults to hold me down for my MMR). My grandad had diabetes and it was one of the worst things I could imagine happening as a kid because of all the injections, and I have so much respect for Eddie for how brave he is and the great tips he has shared. I'm much better with needles now than I used to be. The nurses ARE very nice when you tell them you're scared of needles even when you're a full grown adult lol. Bless Eddie for his good heart.
"Sometimes babies need injections. And they just cry and can’t do anything." for some reason this made me laugh too hard 🤣
Thank you, Eddie! The 9yo would love all the advice and information he can get before his first covid jab, and our 40+yo would need all the reassurance for his booster shot 😆

What an incredibly kind child. Such sage and practical advice. I'm sure his advice will help many children and adults ❤

I’m 53 and still get scared. My nurses just keep me talking (not that hard 😉) and focused on them not the needle.
Great tips, thank you Eddie! One of my daughters is worried about needles and your advice will really help her. :)
Thanks Eddie, you're such a kind person sharing what you've learned and your advice ❤
Thanks Eddie- practical and helpful 😊

Thanks Eddie! My 6 year old really likes the idea of a lollipop or Lego after he goes for his vaccination.
Read this to my kid today. Her response?
"I like the lollipop and Lego tip the best." 😄
Always love Eddie and Ham's contributions to EWW - thank you Eddie for writing this, you are such a legend!

Eddie made me sign up as a paid subscriber! I think he was writing to me personally but I won’t ask Mum for her phone number 😂🥰

Thank you so much Eddie - this advice also works for adults too. Happy Saturday to you.
