I see many have come before me Emily. My first time to comment but just had to come and say how beautifully you have written this today

Beautifully put. I hope future historians will find that show, and perhaps your tribute to it as well.

I love the tenderness and humour of these series, but the pain of dealing with death and grieving under lockdown was so beautifully honoured. I stood in my heart with those who had to farewell Uncle Pio at the border. I work with one of his daughters and took over my role from another. He was our beloved kaumatua and Aunty Chrissy was our kuia. We made it to her tangi but not to his. Thank you for your lovely words.

Oh Emily, such a beautiful, accurate and articulate summary of our times, the grief and those making a difference. This came into my emails as I grapple with my elderly Mum's current Covid infection. Much gratitude for your words.

We honour them. To the nurses, doctors and funeral directors and those who care for our loved ones. They are precious, not just a number in an epidemiological study.

Some of the attitudes of those who said “Omicron is the answer” just made me shudder.

Yes it is - if the question is “How to break the heart of a family, of a first responder, of a health care team and their support staff”.

We are lucky to have such kindness in NZ. It’s easy to forget those hero’s.
