Thank you for this! My parents in NY got appointments to get the vaccine, I'm so excited for them! My sister has an appt too (severe asthma and a teacher so really needs it) and my brother has already had it (firefighter, so they lined them up and jabbed them all). Yay for vaccines!!

So well written - thank you Emily! I grew up in Asia and Africa in the 1970s and 80s and vividly remember seeing the effect of smallpox, measles, diphtheria, polio and so many other preventable diseases. I feel incredibly grateful both for the work of the many many scientists and for the fact that we live in a country with a govt-funded vaccination programme.
