Sounds to me that it did exactly what it needed to do. Gender AFFIRMING care. How wonderful.

Thank you so much for sharing this one Emily - a story that really shows the importance of access to puberty blockers to help kids mental health… whichever way they decide to go from there, it’s beyond worth it ❤️

I love this. And I LOVE that there is a treatment out there that gives kids the time and space to figure this out. I have a friend who transitioned post puberty (puberty blockers weren't an option in those days) and subsequently found that non-binary is a much better fit for them than he/him. Do they regret physical transition? Not at all, it was life-saving. Would this have been an easier journey if the people in their life had a better understanding of gender and puberty blockers had been available? Absolutely.

The openness, love, and affirmation in this story made me cry in a good way and for all those we've lost because they haven't had it.

Brilliant. Thank you Emily. It is a beautiful thing to see the actual truth . Us parents of trans kids get so tired of defending ourselves from people who have no business in our lives. Ally’s like you, who are thinking, reasoning, beautiful people are a breath of fresh air. After the shenanigans of SUFW, then Posy Parker, and now Brian Tamaki, our precious beautiful kids are feeling so fragile. Thank you Emily. You ROCK. Xxxxxx

❤️❤️❤️ I take my commitment to protect trans kids and trans people very seriously. But I’m just very grateful that people trust me to share their stories, that are often so very personal. I can only do that because of how generous this community is.

This is so great. What a wonderful parent, and a wonderful child. If only every parent had the same response to their child at a time of need. ❤️

Nicely done, Emily.

Thank you, parent, for sharing your experience. What a beautiful story of a parent's gentle love, relationship trust and the power of listening.

Great piece. They're temporary - that's the whole point. You have to wonder at anyone who'd read this and want to heap more mental distress on a kid like Ash for the sake of their own beliefs.

Thanks so much for your mahi on this e hoa - it's these stories that are so rarely told in the media, except for when they're taken and used to scaremonger about trans rangatahi.

Thank you for sharing this story, its so helpful to parents of trans kids and gender diverse kids to have reasoned voices among all the negative hysteria. You really are a beautiful human Emily & as is the parent of Ash.
