I honestly didn't think that I could LOATHE Key any more than I already did.

Turns out I have tapped into a whole new reservoir of loathing for the sleazy little thief that I didn't know I had.

Life's full of surprises.

Same here, I can't get it out of my head, how utterly morally bankrupt he seems. So long as his net worth continues to grow, trifling matters such as the survival of American democracy, women's rights to reasonable reproductive health etc etc are of little or ever no concern.

Please don't forget about and abandon The Peasant Post! Not only does it mean that I don't have to read all that depressing crap myself (because you've selflessly taken one for the team and drilled down to give me the absolutely essentially must-know bits), but I also get to have a bit of a chuckle along the way. And that, in the words of some long-ago commercial for something I don't remember, is priceless!! You'll definitely be getting rich and leaving us fuckers behind!

I can't be rational about JK. Every time he does that dopey grin, I have this urge to smack him in it. And I am not at all a violent person. I've warned the hubmeister that if he keeps watching the news, the combined requirement to see CL, NW, JK, DS, WP, LU and all the other pondlife may result in us needing a new television. Do TVs survive being thrown out third floor windows? Actually I wouldn't unless I knew one of them was walking the footpath below.

Great stuff Emily. Would be great to have that piece on J Key ask him about his time on ANZ board in Australia. It seems their approach to risk and compliance has got them in a wee bit of hot water. https://www.smh.com.au/business/banking-and-finance/anz-hit-with-extra-250-million-capital-charge-over-poor-culture-concerns-20240823-p5k4qj.html

I love this. Unfortunately I am a peasant and cannot compensate you at rates The Market (all hail The Market) dictates, so I guess I am also going to have to swap my True Blue Kiwi Card for a "Left-Wing Extremist" t-shirt or something.

I can't decide which would be worse - Erica Stanford continuing to ignore learning support needs, or when she decides to do something about it. Either way, I'm burnt out and terrified.

Thank the Gods for the substackers and podcasters that bring some wit and wisdom into our everyday bottom feeding worlds. That portrait of Mr Luxton on Webworm and the artist's words about it also gave me some small joy. But the best thing I have discovered today and who knew?.. is that Kākāpō smell sweet and come in two colours: moss and olive. Such beautiful and I feel, kindly creatures. Unlike some ex PMs I could mention. But honestly let's do away with such onerous opinions from goneburgers because quite clearly, they are unhinged.

I am a pretend peasant. Recently I was unemployed for 6 months. I discovered that my benefit did not support travelling into wellington CBD and buying a coffee each morning before I walked up and down Lambton quay flashng my now empty lanyard at people. I did manage to keep my subscription going though my over draft has become like a South island hydro dam (empty). NOW employed again I have an uncomfortable feeling that had I a rental property things would have been better for me (though not my tenant). Now I am a sheep I am herded into pastures so that others may profit from my income, while my employer berates me for doing a bad job.. baaaa baaaa at least I avoided the slaughter house... oh wait no I didn't....there's another restructure coming up.

My expensive hobby is paying the $5 charge on all of my meds and then paying $80 at the woolworths pharmacy for less than a months worth of melatonin for my son.

So my brain wanted to have more fun with this today, and every time it saw 'Peasant' it told me 'Peanut'.

I'm glad Erica is listening to some of the sector - it's a shame that's not the majority. Or how about this, not just listening, but actually understanding that teachers know a thing or two about children and how they learn... no, you're right, now I'm just being silly.

Attacking Ardern for having a child out of wedlock? What century is he living in? In the 2023 ebook I wrote with Maria Haenga-Collins on the history of adoption, state care, donor conception and surrogacy, we celebrated Ardern:

"The overall age shift upwards for child-bearing has occurred in the context of a

major change made possible by efficient contraception – the separation of sexual

experience, marriage and parenting. ... Perhaps the most prominent New Zealand example of how embedded this new pattern has become was in 2017, when Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, aged 37

and living with her fiancé Clarke Gayford, gave birth to their first child. She was

the second elected leader in modern history to give birth while in office – and the

first to do so without being married."
